Terms of service
LAST UPDATED · AUGUST 2026
Who you're contracting with
- Karen is a trading name of Spark Light Fire Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17326372.
- Registered office: 33 Khartoum Road, London, England, SW17 0JA.
- Queries and complaints: ewandickie@sparklightfire.co. We aim to reply within three working days.
- Your contract for the service is with Spark Light Fire Ltd. "Karen" is a product name, not a legal person.
What Karen is
- Karen is a software service that helps the registered keeper of a vehicle challenge a private parking charge in the UK.
- Karen is not a law firm, is not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, does not provide legal advice and does not provide legal representation. Nothing Karen writes is a substitute for advice from a solicitor.
- Karen prepares and sends correspondence in your name, with your approval. You remain the appellant throughout.
What you confirm
- That you are the registered keeper of the vehicle, or are authorised by them to act.
- That the account you give of what happened is true. Karen argues only what you tell her; a false account can lose an otherwise winnable case.
- That the documents you upload are your own.
Price and when you're charged
- Three tiers: Karen £19, Firm Karen £29, Nuclear Karen £39, one charge per case.
- Payment is taken in full when you activate your case. There is nothing further to pay however the case ends.
- You are paying for Karen to build and run your case — the full legal analysis, the appeal, and the chasing. Roughly half of properly challenged charges get cancelled, but nobody can promise yours will be.
- The fee buys Karen's work on your case, not a result. No outcome is guaranteed.
What Karen cannot promise
- No outcome is guaranteed. Operators and adjudicators decide cases, not Karen.
- On the Nuclear tier Karen prepares your court papers and shows you exactly how to file them. She does not file them for you and cannot represent you in court.
- Deadlines matter. If you give Karen a notice close to or past its appeal deadline, some routes may already be closed.
Your part
- Approve drafts and forward anything the operator sends you, so the record stays complete.
- Photograph signage promptly when Karen asks. Operators change signs and that evidence disappears.
Cancelling and refunds
- Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have 14 days from purchase to cancel a service bought online and receive a full refund.
- At checkout you may expressly ask Karen to begin work within those 14 days and acknowledge that you lose the right to cancel once the service has been fully performed — that is, once your appeal has been filed. We record that request and the time you made it.
- Full refund if Karen does not file your appeal.
- No refund because the operator refuses the appeal. That is the outcome we do not guarantee, and the fee pays for the work rather than the result.
Law
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
Karen is not a law firm and does not provide legal representation.
